Remember this horrible, vicious, devastating, heart wrenching cycle??

I hate that it even exists.

Some of us close our eyes and try to pretend it doesn't,

Yet there it is. All around us.

AND IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED.

But how?

1. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! Pray generally, pray specifically, pray at each level of the terrible cycle. Pray for the victims in your area, pray for the victims in a specific country. Ask God to radically save the pimps/ traffickers... that they would experience the fear of the living God and repent. Ask Jesus, our Deliverer, to come set the captives free and redeem all that has been lost. Pray for restoration, healing, wholeness. Pray for comfort & peace. Ask God to open the eyes of the lawmakers and officials carrying out the order of the law.

2. Pray again.. and ask God to show you what your part is.. how you can be physically involved and intervene to break this horrid cycle!

3. ACT ON WHAT HE IS LEADING YOU TO DO! Adopt/ spread the word/ give of your time, energy, money/ etc...

Leaving God out of Ethics: Dangers of the Woman-Centered Approach

In an argument, most people who are trying to persuade their opponents will use arguments that make sense to their opponents--not necessarily the most compelling argument to them personally. It just makes sense to appeal to the reasons that matter to the person you hope to persuade. But if we spend all our effort making the secondary arguments convincing, we risk forgetting our primary reasons, and sometimes we lose the moral high ground.

Slavery

In the struggle for the abolition of slavery, some opponents of slavery tried to show the South that slavery was detrimental to their economic system in the long term. That argument may have persuaded a few slave-holders to liberate their slaves. But William Lloyd Garrison and other abolitionists had to convince the public of the evil of slavery before the tide would turn against slavery. Ultimately slavery was wrong because of how it harmed the slaves and because God declared man-stealing to be wrong, not because of the economic impact.

Homosexual "Marriage"

The current debate over same-sex marriage is another example where the opponents of same-sex marriage risk losing the moral high ground when they spend most of their time showing how homosexual relationships are harmful to the people involved and to children in their home, or when they argue about where acceptance of homosexual "marriage" would lead. These are valid points, but homosexual marriage is wrong because homosexuality is wrong. And we know that because God said so.

What is messed up in broader conservative thinking on the subject is this argument that I hear from traditionalists like Bill O'Reilly: People can do whatever they want in private, and that's fine. But don't call it marriage. Let's grant some kind of civil union that gives the legal rights of marriage, but save the term marriage for what it has always meant--a man and a woman.

The real main objection to same-sex marriage is that it legitimizes a wrong behavior. If we really thought men having sex with men was a great thing, why not call it marriage? The logically consistent ground for my side to hold is that homosexuality is wrong because God said so. It's fine to research all the harmful effects and show those, but that's not what makes it wrong.

Abortion

In the abortion debate, we care about both the mother and the baby (as well as the father if he is involved at all). We know that abortion is wrong because it murders an innocent baby. We also realize that abortion harms women emotionally, spiritually, and often physically.

We are trying to persuade women not to abort their babies. When talking to them, it makes sense to take the woman-centered approach and emphasize how abortion is a bad decision for them. Of course most pro-life counselors also share the facts of fetal development, and some pregnancy centers can show the mother her baby's heartbeat on ultrasound, so the mother can get all the information about how an abortion will impact her and her baby.

The culture, however, will never be persuaded to turn against abortion simply because it harms women. If a woman wants to take that risk, why should we stop her, the argument goes. We must persuade our culture of the evil of abortion and the sanctity of life. The campaign against partial-birth abortion, while saving relatively few lives, did a good job of showing the horror of abortion and turning the public against at least some abortions. The pro-life case is one that is built on God and His absolute truth. We can appeal to the cultural acceptance of the self-evident truth that murder is wrong without making it a religious argument, but ultimately our conviction that murder is wrong is based on God.

Let's use the woman-centered approach to persuade women and to show our true concern for women. But we should never be ashamed to say that abortion is wrong because it murders an innocent human life made in the image of God. That is the moral high ground.

On the heels of the provocative "Black Children are an Endangered Species" billboard campaign currently running in Atlanta, Ga., comes another, this one in Poland.

Next week the Polish arm of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform will begin displaying this sign on a huge billboard (74 feet by 32 feet) in a large city in Poland, remaining unnamed for now so as not to jeopardize the plan.

Translation: Abortion for Polish women introduced by Hitler on March 9, 1943

Coincidentally, March 8 is International Women's Day, a special day for feminists in Poland. Each year to celebrate they organize demonstrations in major cities, including Poznan, to demand abortion without limits.

Adolf Hitler was so ahead of his time.

Action Needed!

From an email I received from Susan B. Anthony List:

The New York Times reported on Friday that President Obama's health care proposal is being written so that it can be attached to a budget bill in order to avoid a filibuster from Senate Republicans -- a procedure known as reconciliation.

The Times also reported that "Democrats said it was still unclear how the president would deal with other disagreements, including the issue of insurance coverage for abortions. Abortion remains 'a wild card,' said a Democrat on Capitol Hill."

The issue of abortion is not resolved, and it is absolutely critical that you contact your Representative and your two Senators right now and make it clear to them that Abortion is NOT Health Care!

It is also critical that we keep the pressure on the pro-life Democrats in the House over the next few days to ensure that they don't cave to party pressure from Nancy Pelosi.

In order to pass a health care bill through reconciliation, the House of Representatives would have to pass the Senate version of the health care bill, which does NOT contain the Stupak Amendment to protect human life. So far we have seen no signs of Obama's willingness to take on Senator Boxer, Senator Feinstein and the abortion lobby to exclude abortion from health care. But what he has made clear is that he considers abortion legitimate health care. It is up to a fragile coalition of pro-life Democrats and Republican colleagues to keep abortion out of health care reform.

Contact your two Senators and your Representative today and tell them to reject any bill that does not explicitly exclude funding for abortion! It is absolutely critical that you contact your Representatives right now to ensure your voice is heard!

I can tell you that we are doing everything we can here in Washington to keep up the pressure. On Friday, the SBA List released two letters signed by 31 leading pro-life groups requesting first that Obama explicitly exclude abortion funding in any proposal, and second that GOP leadership raise the abortion funding issue first in any bipartisan talks. Derek Loux

On Wednesday morning December 23, 2009, Derek R. Loux (37), a husband, father, musician, and justice advocate, went home to be with the Lord after a fatal car accident in Nebraska. Derek, a faithful servant of the Lord, was husband to Renee Loux for 17 years and father to ten children, several with special needs.

The Louxes' two biological daughters, Sophia (12) and Michaela (9), were joined by five adopted daughters from the Marshall Islands: Telma (19), Teyolla and Keyolla (twins, 18), Leeann (15), and Sana (8). Of their three adopted sons from the Ukraine, Sasha (7), Ethan (6), and Silas (3), two have Down syndrome and one has spina bifida.

Late in the evening on December 22, after attending a training seminar on how to help children who are rescued out of the sex slave industry, Derek and his friend, Jonathan Oliver, began their return drive from Colorado. They hit a patch of black ice as they drove through a Nebraska snowstorm, causing their vehicle to spin out of control and flip several times. Jonathan and a witness of the accident immediately performed CPR on Derek while waiting for the ambulance. Derek regained a pulse, but his heart rate dropped as they were transporting him to a hospital and he passed away.

Derek was part of the senior leadership team of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City (IHOP–KC) and served many areas of the missions base, including helping to pioneer Forerunner Music Academy. Before joining IHOP–KC, he served as the director of Indianapolis House of Prayer for four years. As a professional musician, singer, and songwriter, Derek recorded several CDs including Paper Religion and Fragrant Burning. He was also a worship leader and a frequent conference speaker.

Derek’s life passion was adopting and restoring orphans, particularly those with special needs. He pioneered the vision of the Orphan Justice Center, a haven of restoration for rescued orphans.

Kirk Bennett, director of IHOP–KC's justice department, worked with Derek and the Orphan Justice Center. “Derek was a joyful husband and father. He is one of the most amazing champions of justice, adoption, and life that I have ever worked with. He was intensely and personally involved in bringing justice to many; he demonstrated the value of life to people and individuals so that they could experience their own value and freedom," said Kirk.

Derek and Renee’s firstborn son, Josiah, a special needs child, passed away when he was 2½ years old. Josiah’s life and death opened the Louxes' eyes to a whole new world of love for children with special needs. As a result, one of their dreams has been to buy approximately 45 acres on Blue Ridge Boulevard, Grandview, to build a “mansion of mercy” and therapy center for special needs children and the staff caring for them. Renee and the Loux children plan to continue their current efforts to help children, fulfilling this dream even in Derek’s death. Mike and Diane Bickle and the entire IHOP–KC staff will greatly miss Derek Loux, his excellent leadership, and his faithful friendship. Speaking of Derek, Mike Bickle says: “He was a faithful man who loved God and cared about people. He led worship teams, and helped start Forerunner Music Academy and the Orphan Justice Center. He was an integral part of our leadership and he will be greatly missed as a dear friend.”

Derek’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the IHOP–KC Forerunner School of Ministry building located at 12444 Grandview Road, Grandview, Missouri, 64030.

Today, the Senate approved an end to the debate on the Manager's Amendment that finalizes abortion funding in the Senate Health Care Reform Bill. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) praised the Senate bill, describing it as having "abortion language that is completely different from the House -- thank God."

One thing is clear. Nancy Pelosi sees the chance to replace the pro-life Stupak-Pitts Amendment in the House with the pro-abortion Manager's Amendment.

Tell your Senators and Representative to oppose any bill that includes this pro-abortion Manager's Amendment.

Bart Stupak (D-MI) called the Manager's Amendment "unacceptable" and said, "We are going to hold firm and make sure that the Stupak-Pitts language stays when this amendment is brought back to us. We will not vote for the bill if that language is not there."

If Nancy Pelosi strips the Stupak Amendment out of the House Health Care Reform Bill and dares Bart Stupak to defeat the bill on the final vote, we need him to know that we have been with him every step of the way.

True Religion Depends On Adoption

In James 1:27 we read that “True Religion” has to include taking care of orphans and widows. The King James version reads “visit” orphans and widows, but the root Greek word translated “visit” actually means “to take care of”. We are to take care of orphans and widows in their distress. “Distress” refers to the heavy weight pressing down upon them. Religion that God accepts will take care of orphans and widows in a way that lifts the weight and stress off of them.
What is the greatest source of stress pressing down on orphans? … not belonging to a family. An adoption revolution within the body of Christ is a front line of attack in recovering the essence of true religion in the church. Without literal, physical, legal adoption, the greatest pressure bearing down upon orphans cannot be relieved. We can house orphans in institutions or group homes, but until someone says “I will be your father, I will be your mother, we will give you permanence”, those children will remain orphans with their primary pain aching in their hearts and their primary crushing burden unmoved. Within the body of Christ there will be many ways to lift the burden off of orphans, but unless an army of sober and compassionate couples arise and bring those children into their families, the other avenues will remain closed.

You rejoice in My salvation, gaze on My beauty. You cling to My strength, celebrate in My love. You are altogether lovely as you delight in My glory.

Yet, I am longing for a bride that is well suited, rightly matched for My heart. Who will go out with Me onto stormy waters? Who will cling to Me in dry lonely deserts? Who will walk with Me through valleys of death? Who will come when I ask you to join Me in being a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief? Who will love ALL of Me? I’m the one from whom men hide their faces, with no form or majesty that I’d be found desirable. Who will dance with Me when we are despised and misunderstood and rejected together? Who will rejoice in THIS SALVATION? WHO WILL LOVE ALL OF ME? My heart is crying out for this kind of bride, this kind of fellowship. You are so beautiful when I see you rejoicing in My benefits. Your desire for me is drawing me, calling me. I am pulled by this reality - Your desire. It causes me to long, to ache. You told the Father you wanted me while You walked this lowly side of eternity. You told Him You wanted me to be with You where You are, to see your glory. Now I lift up my cry to the Father from this side and tell Him of my desire for You. I weep. I lift up my lowly cry for You to come back to this earth, to come back to me! Let Your Kingdom come to this earth. Bring Your glory here to me, oh please Jesus, don’t stay away so long, so far from this one who loves You!

This desire is the source of my mourning, my weeping for You. Your pull is painful but pull Lord, pull with this desire that’s as massive as the sky above, as solid as the ground beneath my feet. Would You pull on every helpless, hopelessly abandoned heart until we have the kind of love that pulls on You!

Oh to think that we could hasten Your return with our love! To imagine that our mourning could pull You towards this earth, that our tears could beckon Your justice, your vengeance. Can my heart draw You to our wedding? Can we bring in more quickly the marriage of the Lamb? That great day, THAT GREAT AGE?

But what must one go through to have this kind of love, these type of tears, this powerful longing? What dance of love do You choreograph in the life of one with weak love, human tears, unfaithful longings, to make them such a powerful force that it is hard for You to stay away? What fires do You pull us through to make our lives ones that you can’t wait to return to? What is it in our lives that You keep from the eyes of man, so You alone can gaze on us with those eyes of fire, like a bridegroom enjoying intimate secrets about his betrothed…only to increase His longing for the wedding day?

If in Your majestic wisdom You have designed my life, ordered my steps, pulled me through fires and floods, allowed trials, injustice, and persecution to try my love just so that when I call Your zeal is stirred; If in your masterful craftsmanship You have hidden my way, kept me from the eyes of man, if my prayer seems unanswered, my tears not wiped, if You’ve held back my right, let me go uncomforted, just so when I cry ‘come’, You rise from your throne, then I say it is wonderful in my sight…it is beautiful and all of Your ways are just and true.

Just as surely as the rising of the sun you are coming to us. Let us have the kind of faith, the kind of heart that pulls on You, FOR YOUR DESIRE IS PULLING ON OUR HEARTS EVEN NOW. Many Children Rescued from Child Prostitution - IHOP (Talahassee Missions Base)

This past weekend CNN released an article stating that there were over 59 children rescued from child prostitution and 74 pimps arrested as part of an ongoing crack-down on human trafficking. In the article it states,

"More than 690 people in all were arrested on state and local charges, the FBI stated."

and later in the article:

"It is part of the FBI's ongoing Innocence Lost National Initiative, which was created in 2003 with the goal of ending sex trafficking of children in the United States.

The initiative, conducted with assistance from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, has so far resulted in the recovery of almost 900 children, according to the FBI. It has also led to more than 500 convictions."

This is huge and a direct answer to the prayers that have been going forth for years in this nation that human trafficking would come to an end. We must keep fasting and praying for the ending of human trafficking. And let this news be an encouragement that prayer works, and according to God's promise He will act when we cry out for justice (Luke 18:7-8).

Oh Zion, why do you not weep? Why do you not cry out? This kingdom is advanced, not by many mighty, not by many strong, but by the mourners, the poor ones. Those with the courage to be meek. Do you not know, did you not hear? Oh violent ones, make haste, run with speed to the dust! Fling yourself with all your might onto the ash heap. Where else is He to be found? How else is He to hear your cry? For He does not dwell with the strong or the proud. He does not give to those who have need of nothing. Spend your strength in the pouring out of your heart until you have nothing left. There is no time to waste!

As even the Associated Press admits, the government takeover of health care will,despite what the president has told you, involve the use of taxpayer funds to pay for abortions.

The AP says flatly, "The proposed legislation would permit government-sponsored health plans, open to non-Medicaid patients, to cover abortions."

So when the president or members of Congress say abortions aren't covered in health care reform, they aren't telling you the truth. And when the president's spokesman says that federal law would prevent taxpayer funding of abortions in the health care plan, he's not telling you the truth either.

The Hyde Amendment prevents Medicaid funds - and Medicaid funds only - from being used for abortions, but that restriction wouldn't apply to the government takeover of health care.

In fact, under the Capps Amendment in the House bill, the public option would be required to offer abortion services, and every American would have to have access to at least one health care plan that included abortion.

Now. James 1:27 tells us that pure and spotless religion is this: to care for the ORPHANS and widows in their distress... I have heard many an arguement go something like this:

person 1: Adoption is mandated in scripture... we ALL need to adopt!
person 2: Adoption is for some, not all believers. I can care without adopting.

Agreed. Some people are not ready/ equipped right this minute to adopt. I'm talking about teenagers, elderly, people in very ill health, etc... That's fine. We can still CARE for the orphan by helping out those that are adopting and helping provide for the orphans that are not available for adoption due to state/ country laws.

HOWEVER, for those of us that could adopt, but are choosing not to saying that it is for some and not for others: let me ask you one question:

Which of the 120,000 children available for adoption in the U.S. Foster Care System do you think says, "adoption is only for some, not for all of us"?? EVERY ONE of those children need parents. Not only a few of them.

And while we're on the subject, remember its FREE in the majority of US states to adopt through the foster care system. In the other states, there are relatively low costs and some of those are refundable!! In some cases, the state will actually pay YOU to adopt.

They Need Us

Urgent prayer request for a mother who is choosing LIFE!

I received this prayer request today on the Safe Haven blog and wanted to share it here, so we can cover this girl in prayer!

"Could you please pass on a prayer request for myself? My name is Michelle and I am 32 years old. I live in the UK with my husband and 6 month old son. I have a rare blood condition called afibrinogenemia (no fibrinogen to clot my blood). I just recently found out I am pregnant again, about 6 weeks. The national health system (NHS) here in England is refusing to treat me until they get approval from the trust to fund another pregnancy. Without treatment I will miscarry my baby and almost did this past Friday, I started bleeding and lost 1 pint of blood. But thanking God that the pregnancy is still hanging on. The doctors have seen a gestational sac but have not seen the baby yet. Please pray that God will guide the NHS Trust committee in the right direction to allow us to give life to this wonderful blessing and not refuse us as I will miscarry because fibrinogen is needed to keep the pregnancy in place. Please pray I don't miscarry before they make a decision. Thank you and God Bless."

The Slave Next Door

I just finished reading this book. It was really eye-opening for me in a lot of ways, but I guess the main thing was it made me realize that there are so many different kinds of human trafficking going on in the world. Not only is sex trafficking going on under our noses, but slave labor is also just as prevalent, if not more so. I read so many stories in this book about children being used for labor, and being abused in the process.

One of the stories that struck me the most, was about fishing boats in the oceans, about 20 miles of the coast of different countries that are the main sources of shrimp imports into the US. These boats have around 2 or 3 little children that live on them, and their job is to catch and skin the shrimp, around 16 to 18 hours a day. They never get off of these boats, and every week or so, the "boss" will come to "check" on them and then usually proceeds to sexually and physically abuse them while there. If they get food, it is rare. They NEVER get medical attention. If they get sick or injured, they just wait for them to die, and then they roll them into the ocean.

This was just one of the many stories I read in this book. It was also informative as to what our nation is doing, and NOT doing to combat human trafficking. It was encouraging, and discouraging at the same time. I learned so much, and have many more things to share over the next month or so. This is definitely a good read, and I would recommend it. However, the authors are not believers, and the ONE thing they left out in their list of things to do to combat human trafficking, was PRAYER!! From a purely political and secular standpoint, it was a great read. More to come........

"Human trafficking case shows the desperate plight of girls forced into prostitution."

"I don't think we really realized how big this was," says Delbert Richburg, assistant special agent in charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Office of Investigations in Charlotte. "We're probably just scratching the surface."

The growth is so extensive that this month ICE stationed a team of agents in Charlotte to focus on human trafficking, smuggling and exploitation. Across the Carolinas, immigrant sex rings have been broken up in Monroe, Durham and Columbia.

Jennifer Stuart, a staff attorney for Legal Aid of North Carolina, says her office has seen a "sharp increase" in trafficking case referrals the last few months.

OUR HERO ABIGAIL?

We seldom think of Abigail as a hero of justice in scripture, but that is exactly who she is. In fact, right now, for our nation, she might just be our best example of how we, who are intercessors clinging to Luke 18, should set our hearts.

Here’s the scene…

1Sam 25, after the death of Samuel David went down to the wilderness of Paran to prepare with his men for a feast day. At this time, David was the true, anointed king of Israel, but Saul was still on the throne, making his kingdom the current, visible rule over the nation.

The account briefly goes like this; Nabal was a very wealthy land owner with fields and herds, yet he was known for being “harsh and badly behaved”. His wife Abigail was “beautiful and discerning”. David sent his men to ask Nabal for provisions for his men for this feast day since they had protected Nabal’s shepherds and his fields whenever they were in the land. Nabal replied to David’s men “Who is this David, this son of Jesse?” He utterly refused and included an insult. David was so angry he told all of his men “Strap on your sword!” Taking 400 men he rode out in judgment against Nabal’s household, swearing that by morning not one male would remain alive. Abigail was warned ahead of time of the impending doom and made haste to put the matter right. She made a gift of more than enough food for a fine feast (food represents fellowship/intimacy) and ran out to meet David and his men in the middle of the night before they reached her house. She sent the food ahead of her, but when she encountered David as she came down to meet him in the middle of the night under the cover of the mountain, she fell at his feet. What she said was remarkable. “On me alone be the guilt! Please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant.” She goes on to take the blame for her husband, to beg for mercy, to admit this judgment is deserved, but to remind David why he does NOT want to do this. She acknowledges that he is the true king of Israel and that he needs to trust God to avenge him rather than take justice into his own hands, to keep his hands free of bloodguilt. Then she asks him to remember her when he comes in his kingdom. David is overwhelmed! He can’t seem to thank Abigail enough for preserving him from his wrath! He tells her to go in peace to her house, granting her petition. When Abigail went home, her husband was drinking and feasting, totally oblivious to what just occurred. 10 days later Nabal was dead. Upon hearing the news of his death David rejoiced and sent for Abigail, wasting no time in making her his wife. I like to think she was pleased with this arrangement as well.

“The secrets (counsel/ friendship) of the Lord are for those who fear Him” (psalm 25:14). Abigail was an amazing example of this in scripture, receiving word ahead of time that David was on his way to slay her entire household. “The lord does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7); this verse is in the context of judgment coming to a nation. If we agree that judgment is what our nation is facing, then let us seriously consider this amazing prophetess, intercessor, friend of God, and hero of justice. Let me also point out here that she met him “as she rode the donkey and came down under cover of the mountain” 1Sam 25:20, as compared with “Oh my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret place of the steep pathway, let me see your face, let me hear your voice…” (Song 2:14)

How David’s heart must have been moved as he looked down from his horse on this beautiful woman at his feet. Not aggressive before him, but humble, gentle, considering him and who he really was, agreeing with his right for justice. David, knowing this woman was the wife of a foolish, unreasonable man, yet here she is, prophesying to him - affirming his identity when visibly Israel was still under the rule of Saul, and asking him to hold back his judgment. She knew who the true king was and she pledged her allegiance to him and his kingdom in that moment. He clearly admired her and pronounced blessings on her, having no idea that the day would come that he’d be able to take this beautiful woman for his own wife. How much more will our King, Jesus himself be moved by us, knowing we are His betrothed, His beloved bride, when we lovingly look Him in the eyes, discerning who He is, His kingdom, His right to bring justice, even judgment to our nation. Yet we remind Him He is the Lord God merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. And we ask Him, though we agree we deserve it, to withhold His wrath, spare our households, our cities and our nation. Church, it’s time in our nation to rise up as a company of Abigails; Friends of the Bridegroom who understand ahead of time concerning the judgment that is coming to our nation. And just as Abigail did, rather than waiting in fear, we run out to meet Him with our offering of love/fellowship. We discern His heart, who He is and we choose to agree with His judgments. We choose to love ALL of Him when so many reject this side of our Beloved One. Let us be the ones who fall at His feet and say, “let the guilt be my own, but have mercy on this nation Lord. Others may be drinking and feasting, but we will run out to meet You in the night with the fellowship You desire”, taking the time to know Him so we can say from relationship, “I know you are merciful, please hold back Your wrath, and show mercy”. Report: U.S. officials unaware of child sex-trafficking problem

The following is an excerpt from The Baptist Press' article:

"Few participants in the assessments realized that the victims described in the [federal anti-trafficking law] definition of sex trafficking victims included specifically U.S. citizen and lawful permanent resident minors under 18 years of age regardless of their perceived consent to the commercial sex activities," SHI reported.

The report also found:-

- The majority of law enforcement personnel and social service providers have little or no awareness of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), the federal law that provides the means to combat trafficking in persons.-

- There is a widespread failure by police, courts and youth shelters to identify under-age victims of sex trafficking.-

- Children often are arrested and charged with prostitution, even though the TVPA says victims must not be held responsible for being forced to commit a crime. -

- There are few shelters in the country to house and protect minor victims of sex trafficking.

Domestic minor sex trafficking consists of "child sex slavery, child sex trafficking, prostitution of children, commercial sexual exploitation of children ... and rape of a child," the report said. Children are exploited through prostitution, pornography and/or stripping, among other means, according to the report. It is estimated at least 100,000 American children under 18 years of age are victimized through prostitution every year, according to SHI.

Do we understand the depth of the deception our nation is under concerning the issue of abortion? It’s not as simple as women just choosing to take the life of their babies, as terrible as that is. There is a deep, complex deception that has woven itself into the very fabric of our culture and society here in the United States.

I have a large family and my 6 children have unanimously voted me the silliest person in the house. My husband says it’s like I’m in God’s sandbox. I love this because His thoughts towards us outnumber the sands of the sea. That’s a really big sandbox! So I am going to play as much as I can in all of His wonderful thoughts towards me and at the same time try to have fun with everyone else He’s thinking beautiful things about. I share this because when I was six years old my favorite place to play was at an abortion clinic.

‘Bread and Roses’, what a lovely name, I thought. On the days they weren’t seeing patients my sister and I were allowed to go to work with our Mom, the administrator. This was quite a treat for us. After all, it was in a high rise in downtown Milwaukee with a panoramic view of the city! Oh how I love views. This sure beat staying at home with an abusive stepfather. The first thing we liked to do was choose which recliner along the wall of windows we wanted. I was the youngest so my sister always got the best chair, “no fair!” Then we would grab one of the cozy blankets the women covered themselves with as they recovered. “Ooh! I want the pink one!” But my big sister got that one first again, “hmph! I guess I’ll use a blue one.” Then we would gaze out over the city and eat all the cookies we wanted from the cookie jars that were placed between the recliners for the women to eat to help restore the blood their bodies lost. They would have lost a great deal during their ‘procedure’ and they didn’t want them to faint. If we got sleepy we could take a nap on one of the two beds that were available for women who were having an especially difficult recovery.

Home wasn’t very happy, but here everyone was so pleasant and spoke so kindly to us. There was one nurse that was my favorite, a beautiful Hispanic woman. When you’re six years old, you want to grow up and be beautiful, just like a princess. She was my princess. I wanted to be like just like her. Sometimes I even got to help this beautiful princess in the room where they sterilized the instruments. I was never allowed to touch them until one day something went wrong with the sterilizing machine. I got to help! I was so excited. The paper that wraps around the instruments melted onto them and I got to help pick it off! Her assistant! I can remember in great detail the instruments that were used. I played with them. She answered all of my questions about how everything worked. There was one that was fun to take apart and put back together. I especially enjoyed that particular room, there was a view of downtown rooftops…it fascinated me. Everything here seemed so safe and pleasant.

We begged Mom to let us come to work with her whenever we could, we didn’t want to be home. Everyone was so kind, no yelling. But she said no on clinic days. She said there would be women there who were so unhappy about what they were doing and it would upset them to see children. “Why are they doing it if they are so unhappy?"

“It’s better for the babies to go be with God than to grow up with a mother who is a prostitute or drug addict or who doesn’t love them.” This made sense to me.

If this was so noble and Bread and Roses was such a decent place, then why could I not tell anyone what my mom did for a living? Not even Grandma? Why did my stepfather run out of the house screaming at her on her way to work,”God is going to punish you! You baby killer!” He was the bad guy, not her. Why would God punish her? He didn’t even have a job.

Now, of course my mother always explained that life really did begin at conception and that she was never the one who performed the abortions. But a woman has the right to choose what she wants to do with her body, Mom said. Also, if we ever made a ‘mistake’ and didn’t feel we could take care of the baby she told us she would raise it. Never abort it.

When I was 18 years old the Lord saved me and the veil was completely lifted. In an instant I was free from the deception I was under and there was light. As for my precious mother, she did everything she could to find other work and to get out of the abusive marriage. As she raised us, mostly alone, she somehow managed to make us feel loved and wanted in spite of our real father abandoning us when I was only two. Her time at Bread and Roses is something she now tries to forget. She’s done foster care for disabled children and has adopted 2 little girls out of the foster care system.

I don’t generally share this piece of my past, but it surfaced in my heart when I was doing a Silent Siege (an hour of silent prayer outside of an abortion clinic with our local Bound4life chapter). This is how my children want to spend their Saturday mornings. SO NOW MY CHILDREN ASK IF THEY CAN COME TO THE ABORTION CLINIC WITH ME! OH LORD, YOUR WAYS ARE TOO WONDERFUL!

I never had an abortion, but I am no different than the women who drive to this clinic. My mind agreed with the very same deceptions that theirs do. I guess that qualifies me to pray for them. If only they knew how much I love them and that I know I’m not better than them. Isn’t this how Jesus won our hearts? He became like one of us, only without sin. Now He is our Great Intercessor.

So again I remind you, the ending of abortion is not going to come through a few changed laws. Friends, it’s a part of our culture. We need the veil lifted, the deception broken off of an entire nation. It’s going to take revival.

Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America. Amen.

There are between 143-210 million orphans in our world today. Can you comprehend that? I can't. 143+million little people that have no one to call family. There is no one that claims them, and no one that loves them. It's hard for me to swallow that there could be just ONE little person going through this, but 143 million? I think really wrapping my brain around this and truly understanding this would be way too painful. That's why I chose to state that I do not comprehend this.

I remember the first time I stepped foot in an orphanage in eastern europe. It was exactly what I had imagined it would be like. I stepped out of the old van that brought us there. In front of me was a wrought iron gate. As I stepped through the gate, off in the distance, past the yard was a tall run down building, a structure with nice architectural aspects, but the walls were crumbling, and it looked dull, dark, and hollow. I felt I was right where I was supposed to be. I was in a place I had only dreamed of going but never thought would come true...the fields of the fatherless. In my heart of hearts I knew the Lord had brought me to this place, and for the first time...I had a glimpse outside of my cushy life in the good 'ol USA. Caring for orphans was something the Lord had placed on my heart at a young age...and I have to say having an opportunity to carry out something God had given me the desire to do...was an amazing moment.

We were invited inside. We would have a tour, and then be fed lunch. All around us were children, orphans, with wide, curious eyes. We smiled at them, played ball, and tried to show them we cared. At one point I looked down...and a very young little girl, no more than 3 had taken my hand in hers. I hadn't seen any other children this young there before this. She smiled a very cautious little grin, and was glued to my side for the remainder of our time there. Heartbreaking. She was searching for a mommy, and to know that she felt safe enough to hold my hand, a total stranger to her, is both sad, and sweet.

We were served borscht and bread for lunch. I felt almost guilty eating this food, yet I knew it gave them so much joy to feed us. We ate, and visited for as long as we could. When we left, the children all clung to the fence and watched us drive off...the sadness in their faces I will never forget.

I spent time in two more orphanages there. It was humbling, and eye opening to say the least. The pain, aloneness, and the vastness of the plight of the orphan became very real to me. To know that these children, and hundreds of thousands more in their own country would never know the safe arms of a mommy or daddy was heartwrenching. And I will never forget them. As christians we are called many times over to care for orphans.

As christians we are called to step out and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

I would be a missionary all over the world if I could, I would adopt hundreds of orphans from all over the world if I were allowed. But I am only one. Will you join me in this cause, the cause of the orphan? They need us.

It was set in motion when He reached back from eternity into time by coming in the form of a man. Now He’s back on the other side reaching for you with a Holy longing…His desire. The King of the universe - standing at the door, hand to the latch, Your head wet with dew, Your locks with the drops of the night, wanting me (Song 5:2-4). Tell me daughters of Jerusalem, have you ever seen anyone like Him?! Truly, You are the fairest among ten thousand, fairer than the sons of men! There has never been another one like You.

My feet picked up the dust of the earth just as yours do. I look down and see the one I bow for to wash those beautiful feet. How could I forget? I bent down and wrote in that dust for you. Democrats Guarantee Abortion Coverage in ObamaCare

Urgent: Call your representative and two senators today!

President Obama told liberal clergy that those who claim his health care plan will provide taxpayer funding for abortions are "bearing false witness." But it's the president who is not being truthful with the American people.

The Capps Amendment, passed by Democrats in the Energy and Commerce Committee at the end of July, specifically says that the "public health insurance option shall provide coverage for (abortion) services," and directs the "Commissioner" to "assure" that every American will have access "to at least one ... plan that provides coverage of (abortion) services."

California Democrat Zoe Lofgren admitted in a town hall meeting this month that "abortion will be covered by one or more of the health care plans available to Americans."

Even the Associated Press wrote that ObamaCare "would allow a new government-sponsored insurance plan to cover abortions."

Democrats in the House and Senate have voted down every attempt to make sure abortion funding is kept out of the health care proposal.

There are many reasons to oppose ObamaCare, but stopping the taxpayer funding of abortion is perhaps the most important. Help protect the life of the unborn by working to stop ObamaCare in its tracks.

Assisted Suicide Endangers All

Last week (June 2009) in Washington state a 66-year-old woman with terminal cancer made history as the first person to undergo physician-assisted suicide since that state legalized the practice in November of 2008.

Proponents of legalized suicide celebrated Washington's approval of this policy as a victory for the "death with dignity" movement. These suicide advocates, in keeping with the rhetorical tactic of their ideological cousins in the pro-abortion movement, equate "dignity" with "choice." Unfortunately, as with the abortion debate, the "choice" rhetoric of the right-to-die movement eclipses critical moral and ethical questions which ought to be at the forefront of the debate.

Is suicide really a way to honor life and preserve dignity? What are the social and cultural implications of normalizing the "right to die?" Will voluntary physician-assisted suicide give way to involuntary physician-assisted suicide where doctors decide whether their patients would be better off dead? Will the "right" to suicide be transmogrified into a "duty" to commit suicide? Will the elderly who consume more than they produce be deemed "resource hogs" that have a duty to die and get out of the way? In an age of scarce economic resources, will the critically ill or the handicapped or the demented be viewed as expendable by their younger, healthier counterparts? How will the medical profession be transformed if those who are trained to cure are given a license to kill? These and many other questions should be asked and answered before we decide it's okay to encourage terminally-ill persons to choose self-destruction in the name of dignity.

Seven Reasons Abortion Is In The Health Care Overhaul

1. The House bill specifically includes it. The Capps amendment explicitly allows abortion coverage in the public health plan and subsidizes health plans that cover abortion. (Passed 30-28 in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, July 30)

2. Senate Democrats admit it. “[The health care bill] would include, uh, it would include, uh, Planned, uh, Parenthood clinics.” (Sen. Barbara Mikulski, July 9, Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee meeting—Planned Parenthood is the No. 1 U.S. abortion chain.)

3. Senate Democrats refused to ban it. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah): “Madam Chairman, would you be willing to put some language in [about] not including abortion services? Then I think you would have more support.” Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.): “...No, I would not, uh, be willing to do that at this time.” (July 9, Senate HELP Committee meeting)

4. House Democrats promote it. “… [A]bortion will be covered as a benefit by one or more of the health care plans available to Americans, and I think it should be.” (House Representative Zoe Lofgren (DCalif.), August 12, San Jose, California Townhall meeting)

5. The mainstream media confirms it. (“Government insurance would allow coverage for
abortion,” Associated Press, August 5, 2009).

6. The Obama administration includes it in its definition of reproductive health care. “Reproductive health care includes access to abortion.” (Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, April 22, House Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing)

7. Every amendment to exclude it from health care legislation was defeated by the liberal sponsors. The following is a list of pro-life amendments that would have prevented abortion funding or prohibited abortion mandates for covered services.

I made you for Myself and it doesn’t matter if any eyes other than Mine ever understand those places deep inside of you because I made you for Myself. Even though all other eyes would pass you by, you are My creation; you have all My attention, because I made you for Me, like the depths of the sea. Song 6:7, “Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate behind your veil”. Ps 45:13, “the king’s daughter is all glorious within”. Ps 4:3, “but know that the Lord has set apart the Godly for Himself”.

We belong to a Master Craftsman who has intricately woven us in secret, in the depths of the earth (ps139:15) and He has brilliantly carved out portions in us, chapters in our books, that are for His eyes alone - beauty that no one else will ever behold. He has masterfully, lovingly hidden these precious places, but how? Even Jesus Himself ‘had no form or majesty that we should look at Him, and no beauty that we should desire Him’ (Isaiah 53:2), yet He was the most handsome of the sons of men (Ps 45:2). When you discover in what ways He’s kept you for Himself, you may find that the thing that caused you heartache, is the very area of encounter for you and your Beloved. Your ashes may become more beautiful than you ever knew they could. Perhaps the very thing you despise about yourself or the thing you wish you could change is the outer layer of the pomegranate and the beautiful veil that He has hidden you behind, for Him alone to remove, for Him alone to enjoy. Only the bridegroom gets to remove the veil and enjoy His bride. He alone disrobes His betrothed and enjoys what has been so modestly, beautifully covered. Beyond the veil, you are for the Bridegroom’s eyes only, His pleasure alone. This is a precious, glorious thing. Oh beloved, do you see how valued and special you are? Perhaps He’s hiding you behind being overlooked, forgotten, or ignored. Is there no one who understands your tears? Is there nobody for you to hold? Do you feel unappreciated? Do people seldom notice the real you? Perhaps you are beautiful, so others never take time to look beyond what they see outwardly. Or maybe you don’t think you’re very attractive, and you feel that few desire to even know what’s behind the face. What is the veil that He has chosen to hide you, His prize, His beauty behind? Is it that whenever you speak, the words just don’t come out quite right? “Oh, why can’t I come up with the words? Why am I not eloquent like so and so?” Perhaps the season of life you are in has you feeling incapacitated.

What is He looking for in you that is unique, that He designed in the secret depths, just for Himself to enjoy? Whatever it is, He has deliberately hidden it away from all others, jealously keeping it for Himself. This gentle lover of your soul desires you to allow Him to search you and know you in these places rather than feeling neglected over this area in your heart. You will find that there is a world of fellowship waiting there with the one who skillfully formed this deep place in you, then guarded it from all others, saving it for Himself alone. What a treasure you are! And He is the only one who knows how to count those tears, how to really embrace you, how to truly cherish those inner thoughts and feelings. He’s the one who never judges outwardly, but looks at your heart. Don’t settle for second best. Give Him what He desires, He will value you far above any earthly lover, any human companion. He will understand you more than any other friend. He’s saying open for Me My sister my love, do you treasure Me the way I treasure you? Will you give Me My portion? Will you satisfy My desire, My longing for you? I want more of you. Will you remain unoffended if I take an even greater portion of you for Myself? What if it means being more misunderstood, more overlooked, feeling less loved by man; but oh My dove, that’s how you become more Mine! What price will you pay to have me near?

Are we willing to identify with Jesus - this one who had ‘no form or beauty that men should desire US’? Remember though, along with this, also came the revelation that He is the fairest of the sons of men. “Hear o daughter, consider… and the King will desire YOUR beauty” Psalm 45:10.

Psalm 65:4 “Blessed is the one You choose and bring near”. Oh Lord, our love, hide us deep, deep in You. Search us and know us. We want to be familiar friends. So hidden, so known, so at home by Your side. You being so at home in us, You - the One we love.

Shared Hope International’s Report on Child Sexual Slavery in America

In 2006 Shared Hope International received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to perform field research on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST)—the sex trafficking of American children. The National Report is the culmination of ten field assessments conducted in targeted locations in the United States, providing a comprehensive understanding of child sex trafficking across America. This unprecedented report reveals the starling reality that American children are being recruited from our neighborhoods and sold on our streets!

The National Report found misidentification of victims to be the primary barrier to properly addressing America’s trafficked children. Consequently, this misidentification often leads to the criminalization of victims, barring them from receiving proper treatment and care. In fact, in nearly every location American child victims of sex trafficking are being arrested for the crime committed against them while their abusers walk free. In addition, the study found a severe lack of appropriate protective and therapeutic shelters. Finally, the National Report emphasizes that although buyers are a critical in addressing the issue of child sex trafficking, buyers most often escape criminalization.

Pro-life webcast gathers 36,000

Thursday night, July 23rd, a pro-life webcast coordinated by 40 Days for Life's National Director, David Bereit, and Students for Life of America's Executive Director, Kristan Hawkins, gathered more than 36,000 concerned Americans to discuss the abortion mandate in the current health care reform bills before Congress.

The webcast, the largest ever held in the pro-life movement, united more than 15 national pro-life and pro-family organizations in an effort to educate and active pro-life and pro-life grassroots activists. The webcast emphasized that without an explicit exclusion of abortion the current health care reform bills before Congress would mandate that all Americans pay for abortions in both public and private plans.

Speakers included Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the FamilyDr. Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention ERLC, Congressmen Chris Smith and Joe Pitts, Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life, Kristen Day of Democrats for Life, Dr. Charmaine Yoest of Americans for United for Life, Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America, Douglas Johnson of National Right to Life, David Bereit of 40 Days for Life, and Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life of America.
